We were engaged to conduct 1 Yearly Structural inspection on an operating Ship-Loader. Through the inspection we identified 4 critical weld defects with crack indications longitudinally approximately 600mm in length in the centre of the welds.
Following reporting to our valued client we were instructed to remedy the welds requiring welder qualifications completed in house to ISO 9606.
Remedial work was completed using our rope access technicians to AS/NZS 1554.1 SP, then verified through visual inspection and Magnetic Particle testing, all within a minimal shutdown duration less than 12 hours before reporting and returning to service.
With TICS Rope Access Services undertaking the work our client was able to avoid the use of timely and costly engineered drop scaffolding over water, that would have substantially increased the downtime to the infrastructure.
